artist statement

To compose music is to make magic palpable. It is to harness our surroundings into a highly evocative medium. It is to gather the notes in our hearts and souls to create. My music strives, above all, to be genuine and true to itself.

Ethan Hsu is a composer of contemporary classical music and cellist. He is an NYO-USA apprentice composer, a YoungArts Award Winner with Distinction, and the winner of the PSO Pennsylvania Call for Scores. He is a student at Juilliard Pre-College studying with Manuel Sosa, and studies privately with Chris Rogerson.
